Shamanic Healing
From a shamanic perspective, the source of all things is Spirit—and Spirit is present in all things. In this tradition, illness is understood as having a spiritual origin, regardless of how it manifests—physically, emotionally, or mentally.
Shamanic healing is a spiritual practice that addresses imbalance at its energetic root. During a healing session, the shaman enters an altered state of consciousness to consult with helping spirits. These spirits offer insight into the client’s condition and guide the healing process. Below are the four primary types of spiritual imbalances addressed in shamanic healing:
1. Loss of Power
Loss of power occurs when a guardian spirit or power animal departs. This loss can leave a person vulnerable, disconnected from inner strength, and without the protection normally available to navigate life.
Common signs of power loss include:
Chronic depression
Persistent illness
Repeated misfortunes or “bad luck”
Chronic feelings of being cursed or jinxed
Ongoing crises or losses
Suicidal thoughts or tendencies
Healing Method: Power Animal Retrieval
In a healing session, the shaman journeys to recover a lost power animal or guardian spirit and returns it to the client by blowing its energy into the body. This restoration can bring renewed vitality, protection, and direction.
2. Soul Loss
Soul loss is the departure of a part of one’s essence or life force, often in response to trauma. While it is a protective mechanism, the soul fragment usually does not return on its own.
Signs of soul loss may include:
A sense of not being fully present
Dissociation or disconnection from life
Chronic depression or emptiness
PTSD or unresolved trauma
Addiction or patterns of self-soothing
Giving away personal power
Memory gaps or time loss
Long-term grief or inability to move forward
A feeling of “I haven’t been the same since...”
Healing Method: Soul Retrieval and Integration
The shaman journeys to locate and retrieve lost soul parts and returns them to the client. Follow-up integration work helps the client welcome back this vital essence and restore wholeness.
3. Spiritual Intrusions / Misplaced Energy
Intrusions are energies that do not belong in the body and may originate from negative thought forms—either sent by others, absorbed from the environment, or self-generated through internal criticism.
Symptoms may include:
Chronic anger or irritability
Localized pain or illness unresponsive to treatment
Healing Method: Spiritual Extraction
With the guidance of spirit allies, the shaman identifies and removes intrusive energies from the client’s body. Afterward, clients may be given rituals or practices to support healing and maintain energetic protection.
4. Possessing Spirits
Sometimes spirits become lost on their journey after death and attach themselves to a person, place, or object. This may occur when someone has experienced soul loss, leaving openings in their energy field.
Healing Method: Psychopomp Work
From the Greek word meaning “soul guide,” psychopomp work involves helping lost or stuck spirits cross over. The shaman supports the spirit in transitioning out of the middle world and into a place of peace and light.
What to Expect After a Shamanic Healing
Each person experiences shamanic healing differently. Some feel lighter, more grounded, or a renewed sense of vitality. Others may notice emotional release or the surfacing of old memories that need further attention. For many, a deep sense of peace or spiritual reconnection follows, offering new direction and clarity.
Shamanic healing is a journey back to wholeness—reconnecting with your true self, your inner spirit, and the wider field of Universal Spirit.
